Chickens were chosen in instead of a (human) audience and instead of an exhibition space, a hen house was chosen for this show. One of the most abused animals by mankind, this species is the only guests of this exhibition. The exhibition expresses a critique of mechanics of the food industry and the hopeless situation of chickens, which have been made into robotic slaves divorced from nature by humans. Furthermore, through the integration of contemporary terms it also questions the concept of the audience. The title of the exhibition comes from the question “prove that you are not a robot” that we frequently come across on the Internet. And offers chickens as proof that they are not robots in this day and age whereby people seek to create standardize everything except themselves.
The “Prove You’re Not A Robot Chicken” exhibition starts with a cocktail similar to any contemporary exhibition opening. The ‘grand opening – a feast for friends’ cocktail seems very similar to the brutal interest shown by the chicken audience. So much so that the chickens that roam around the cocktail are no different from any contemporary human audience who remain indifferent and merely create a crowd when faced with art exhibitions.
